Finding Rest When You Need Rest!
We have chatted before about how to re-spark your fire in the middle of a burn out, but one huge thing we need to chat about is … REST! Rest is most definitely not an easy task. In the world we live in we are taught to hustle, hustle, hustle! & while working hard is a very strong quality to have, knowing when you need to rest is even equally as strong. So, let’s chat about all the ways to find rest…
Quiet Time
This one is a big one. We know for a fact that we can always turn to the Lord in the middle of worries and stress and we will be able to find rest. & in fact it is through Him that we can find ultimate rest. Don’t hesitate to stop what you are doing, go in the other room and allow yourself to fall into His arms. Some of my favorite ways to put my rest into the Lord…
A morning quiet time each morning
Putting on praise and worship music and journaling
Looking up verses on a particular area that I am struggling with to find rest
Getting Outside
Getting outside not only gets you to walk away from the chaos, but it also is a good way to get some vitamin D, fresh air and some exercise. Plus vitamin D is a beautiful way to lift up your endorphins.
Actually Take Some Time Off
Maybe you need to shock your system and simply just take some time for yourself and your family. Taking time off is not a bad thing. It is something that can actually refuel your fire and give you that motivation that you were longing for.
Or it isn’t a bad idea to do all three … together. My friend you were not made to go, go, go 24/7. Even the Lord rested on the 7th day of creating creation. Take a moment and see what it will do to your workflow, your goal and even your life when you do. Taking time to rest is not just for my business/boss peeps, it is meant for everyone. If your body is telling you it is time to rest, then my friend it is time for you to listen and rest!
Genesis 2:2-3
And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all HIs work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
