Why The Blog
Let’s chat about why the blog is set up the way that it is. This blog is just over a year old & honestly I had no expectations of where it was going to go, but since we have some history attached to it I figured why not explain why I started it, what are the categories & my hopes for the future.
Why I Started The Blog
To chat about why I started the blog would mean we would have to go back to before the blog was even published. Before the blog was even a thing I was shooting product photography for a wholesale company in the town that I live and work in. The company has a beautiful community of business owners that were wanting more help on the visual side of their business … simply they were wanting more business tips and tricks. I had the opportunity to host a facebook live class on how to shoot a simple product flat lay. The group loved it so very much that they wanted more. My social media however, was not set up to turn into business trips and tricks. So, still wanting to keep one social media account to be an umbrella for all the things the blog was created. I started this blog to be a place for me to educate and teach other business peeps lots of tips and tricks.
What Are The Categories
When I first started I would only share tips and tricks for businesses, but then I realized that I had a creative host to share more information about my business and the things that inspire me. I started sharing tips and tricks, but then I started sharing seasonal color trends, then photography session tips and tricks, and then encouragement. The categories of this blog truly had all things that inspire and surround my business. I enjoy helping other business peeps, so there are business trips blogs. I enjoy sharing more helpful tips for my clients, so there is tons of senior content or family session content. I love love love encouraging others, so there have been some encouragement blogs. From the beginning I never put a box around this blog, so currently right now there are 3 categories; Business Tips & Tricks, Photography (seniors, family, couples) and Encouragement/Lifestyle. Will there be more categories added? Maybe. I have learned that to not even add a box will allow me to create content I never knew was an option.
My Hopes For The Future
My hope is this blog will be universal. I want the people who come for encouragement to also enjoy the business trips. I want the people who come for my senior or family information to leave with encouragement. I honestly still have no expectations for this blog, but my hope is that it encourages, inspires and brings joy to everyone who reads it.
I want to say thank you for joining me along for this ride. I will continue to have a blog Wednesday, but there might be some Wednesdays that we will need to miss (we are flexible that way). Thank you for allowing this blog to be a voice into my business and loving it just for what it is … the extra side. Do I know everything? Absolutely not, but I love sharing and encouraging. Maybe once a year we will do a check up blog post on where it is currently at … but … this year it is scooting along with encouragement & lifestyle, photography & business tips & tricks.
Also, side note: maybe this is a lesson that we are not supposed to box ourselves in. Maybe this is something we (meaning me) need to work on. When we don’t box ourselves in we allow the door to be open for other adventures.
