Headshots, but make them YOU!

Oh my friends, let’s chat about headshots. When it comes to headshots you either love them or you hate them, there is no grey area. Headshots are not meant to be draining & in fact if they are draining for you then my friend we have a problem, because your headshots are a window into who you are about & you are far from draining. So, since headshots are a known thing whether you are applying for a job, representing your brand or just needing some extra content, let’s talk about them!

What Do You Do With Them?

Let’s first start off by talking about what you can do with your headshots. This is a common question that most people ask.

First thing first, when you are applying for a job adding a fresh headshot to your resume or portfolio is a perfect way for them to already get to know you. They will be able to remember you and it makes your resume or portfolio more personal.

Second, let’s say you are a real estate agent or you are the face of your brand, taking good clean headshots is a perfect way to put your best foot forward when showing the world you are and what your brand represents. These photos could be used for business cards, websites, graphics, social media & ect. The list could literally go on forever. Allow your headshots to be used for more than just a business card. Get the absolute most out of them, I mean you did pay for them, so why not!

How Can You Prepare For Them?

Just like any other session, the more you prepare the more you feel confident and ready. The first thing I suggest doing is finding outfits that give you the most confidence. If you are given a shirt to wear then find a cute pair of bottoms or accessories to go with your outfit, but always start with the outfits. I love to start with the outfits, because if you feel confident and cute that will show through your photos. Try on all outfits days before the session, giving you plenty of time to go find a piece you don't have or will for sure need.

Then I highly suggest sitting down and looking at what pieces of content you will need. For example I had a set of real estate headshots and the company wanted to make sure to get an additional group photo that would be perfect for a billboard. They sat down beforehand and discussed with the team, which in turn they were able to tell me beforehand, so I was able to keep that in mind during the session. By sitting down making a list of what content pieces you will need, will also help you for when you get the images back and you can plug in and place where they need to go.

How To Make Them YOU!

So, now how do we make these headshots … YOU! Well my friend, that is just it … we make them you, because you are in them. To make your headshots the most you … you need to; show your most unique smile, lots of laughs, poses that work for your body ( don’t worry, no need to prepare for this one. I’ve got you!), outfits that go with your style and just being 100% authentically you. One of my most favorite things to do in all sessions is, sit back and watch how you naturally move. Once I figure that out then I can guarantee that the poses will be 100% you. Will I have you stretch the bounds sometimes, yes! But, they will always show you.

My friend, you are one of a kind. AMAZING! & your headshots can be too. Don’t be afraid to show up for your brand or your business. When we show up for our brand or business we are already letting our clients know that we believe in what we are doing, so don’t be afraid to make your headshots 100% you. I believe in you & know that you can do it!

Be Sweet,
