But What If It Rains?

You have a session coming up & the forecast is showing some funky stuff. You start freaking out & become very stressed. Will you still have to shoot? Will there even be another day open? What if the date that is open you don’t have open? STOP!! Before you allow your mind to take you places that there is no need to be taken in, let’s chat. The weather is 1,000% out of anyone’s control, so what do I do about bad weather days?

I NEVER make anyone shoot in bad weather.

It adds too much stress on you & honestly it does not go with my style. My main goal is to always make sure you feel the absolute best you possibly can & bad weather days do not work with that.

I study the forecast

In the 8+ years that I have been shooting, Texas has always had the sassiest weather. One thing I have learned is that …

If there is a 40% chance or lower of bad weather most likely there will not be bad weather.

If there is a 60% chance or higher of bad weather then most likely there will be some sort of bad weather.

Texas is known for playing tricks on us. & honestly looking at the weather for your session date 3 days before is the perfect time to judge the weather.

I have a plan

Like I said earlier, bad weather days are something that we cannot control, neither you nor I. If I could get the Lord on my calendar to only schedule bad weather days when I do not have a session that would be great, but that is not realistic.

So, in the chance that there is a bad weather day we will go ahead and reschedule your date.

If the chances are not too high of a bad weather day, but it would make you feel better to go ahead and look at dates then we do just that.

& each day leading up to your session we will literally be keeping each other updated on the weather. You are not alone in this, and my friend honestly this is my worry to hold.

Rescheduling your date is not a penalty or something you will be charged for. I would never even consider putting that kind of pressure on someone. This is also not something new I have had to deal with. This is a part of my job that comes up every so often and it is something that I feel extremely comfortable to deal with. For example: I had this sweet senior one time. The chances of rain for her session were above 60%. We went ahead and rescheduled her date. Once her rescheduled date came around, there was another bad weather day. Which led us to rescheduling it again. My friend, we rescheduled this senior session another time, making a total of 3 different reschedule dates (each new date had beautiful weather chances, until we got closer), but we finally found a date that worked. There was 0% chance of rain. We had her session & honestly the date we ended up on ended up being the most beautiful day the Lord had given all year.

Bad weather days suck (oh heavens excuse my language, but they do), but 10 times out of 10 when we have to reschedule because of a bad weather day the Lord always ends up blessing us with a day that was even better than we expected. So, we will look at bad weather days as an opportunity to prepare a little more for your session & take the stress off. My friend, I am here with you to create a session that you will remember for a lifetime. & together we will make your dreams come true. You are never alone. I believe in you & I believe in us that we will always find the perfect date.

Be Sweet,
