THE COLORS BETWEEN WINTER & SPRING

For as long as I can remember I have always loved Valentine's Day. Not so much for having that special someone, but more because every year my mom and dad would celebrate Valentine’s Day with us girls. They would make it so very special & honestly it gave me such a beautiful respect for the day. I love Valentine’s Day also because for me it makes me think we are phasing out winter and moving into spring. So, let’s talk colors…

During this phase between winter and spring you are going to see your blues and reds move and shake, but you are also going to see a lot of beautiful neutral colors moving to become more softer and less harsh.

The colors

Let’s talk about Blues and Reds, because honestly those are the first major colors you will see as we move into spring. Yes, the greens and yellows are going to eventually move and become brighter, but blues and reds truly start the movement forward. Plus, hello it's valentine’s day we are going to need a little red family in our life. The blues are going to slowly start becoming more richer and start showing more of their turquoise vibes, but this is also a slow transition. During winter blue is so prominent that as we move into spring the movement of blue is so beautiful. I love taking photos when the blue starts popping back into the sky.

The Neutrals

Here is the deal: neutrals is a very big umbrella for a tone of different neutral colors, but when we were in fall moving into winter you would see richer, darker neutrals & you would also see a lot of the darker side of the black and brown families. As we move into spring lets look at neutrals like we are softening them out. Yes, we will see the black and brown families but they will be softer and they will be duller. You will see more creams and greys. We saw this movement start happening at the start of winter, but now as we move into spring this is where the magic really starts for these color families.

Colors are meant to be something that inspires us. Enjoy this movement into spring, but also enjoy the last bit of winter colors we have. Notice the Blues and the neutrals moving in a different direction. Notice how the deep browns will become softer and the blue will become softer, but also very rich in the color family. Enjoy them, because when we tap into spring full swing and summer it is going to be wild.
