BLUE LIGHT GLASSES? YAY OR NAY?
Okie, it’s time for me to be honest. When I was younger I wanted glasses SO bad. Like, so bad I told my mom I couldn’t see and we totally made an eye doctor appointment. & to throw myself under the bus even more I acted like I couldn’t read at the eye doctor. They all knew I was lying & after that appointment my mom took me to Claire's in the mall and totally got me fake glasses. Who knows maybe my age group was totally on to something, because if someone wants to wear fake glasses now all they need is to say, “oh they are my blue light glasses.”
All jokes aside and one awful story about faking my sight … let’s chat about the blue light glasses trend.
What Are Blue Light Glasses?
Blue light glasses help block the rays that electronic screens can give off. They almost act like a shield for your eyes. They can be super helpful when staring at a screen for too long or if you get headaches from electronic screens. As we continue to look at screens no matter if it is a computer, tv or even a phone screen our eyes will weaken over time & blue light glasses are very helpful in slowing down that process.
Blue Light Glasses - YAY
As funny as it may seem that I totally wasted an eye doctor appointment when I was younger, I did end up having to go back to an eye doctor when I got older. When I turned 22 I could tell that my eyes were in fact getting weaker. I made an appointment at the doctor and after a few tests he eventually asked me what I did for a living. At the time I was spending 8 hours a day working on a computer screen to go home to jump back on the computer to edit photos. He told me that I was not helping the process of my eyes getting weaker & suggested that I invest in blue light glasses. Now, the difference between this appointment and the first one is I ended up actually getting a prescription in these glasses along with the blue light.
I will honestly say that now, there is no bad when it comes to blue light glasses. If you are staring at a screen or even your phone or even if you just feel like your eyes could use a little help, then blue light glasses are totally worth the investment. It honestly does not hurt. I also suggest if you have children who use a computer at school to go ahead and start them on blue light glasses. My younger sister has been wearing them for a while, because her school has computers. I will be interested to see how her eyes are when she turns 22 compared to mine.
Blue Light Glasses - NAY
There is ONE thing we do need to discuss.
I DO NOT SUGGEST EDITING IN BLUE LIGHT GLASSES.
You can go through images, emails and honestly all other things on your computer, but when it comes to editing ... DO NOT EDIT IN THEM. Blue light glasses are exactly what they are called. When looking through them they will make things appear cooler, especially when it comes to colors. Your colors will appear cooler. This is truly my only NAY when it comes to blue light glasses. I DO NOT EVER edit in blue light glasses. If you wanting to be kinder to your eyes while editing, then I suggest you sit down and edit without looking back and forth at the computer, then tv, then phone & then back to the computer. Going from different distances will honestly strain your eyes. Plus, always taking a break is a wonderful idea while editing for a long period of time.
Now, my glasses are from a doctor & you can actually get them added when you are at your appointment, but I have also attached a few online blue light glasses to try out.
