Introduction
This week we are chatting about iPhone & Camera photos breaking down the difference between the two. We will also be talking about presets and how to work with them. This week’s party favor is all the presets that I have available in my shop and instructions on how to download them into your mobile device. Let’s start with iPhone Editing, because we all have a phone in our back pockets.
With both iPhone and camera photos you are going to want to do some prep work before you shoot, so I have laid out some tips to help in that area.
Lighting: Your lighting is so important. You would automatically think that soft lighting would be easier and better however, you have to be careful with iPhone lighting because harsh light is harder to soften and soft light can be hard to darken. If you notice that you need more light or less like tap and hold on the screen, then move your finger up or down. Down to darken the image and up to brighten the image. If you are in a dark room try this technique before actually using your flash. Don’t be in harsh light that is causing people to squint, always work around the sun, because if you are squinting then my friend there is no way to make that image better in general. Try having the sun not directly behind you but almost like it is peaking over your shoulder. This is something that will take practice and time.
Location: Your locations matter especially if you are in a dark room or outside at night. If you are in a dark room or outside see if there are any lights that could be behind you that could almost act like the sun. Remember we want that light to peek over your shoulder not be directly behind or directly in front of. Be mindful of the sun smashing on the green grass that would reflect green back onto your face. Your location will also be so helpful when you are trying to plan the colors you wish to show off.
