The Wilson Wedding

She wanted an elopement - he wanted a party

... so they did both!

 The morning started at 5:30 with coffee and lots of laughs. As the girls got ready the boys got ready to. Tears were shed, make up was put on, and the exciting nerves started setting in. The location was on top of The Hill. The Hill is where Brody asked me to be his girlfriend. I have never had wedding day dreams, but I did know that the dreams I had were in the details. Of course we couldn’t go to North Carolina to the Coker Arboretum, where he proposed. So, The Hill was the dream.

>>There are a million reasons why we choose to have a small ceremony with a big reception. What I am about to say is not meant to be a discrimination to anyone or their wedding. This was our thoughts and our thoughts alone.<<
{I have shot more weddings than I have been to them. I have been second shooting and shooting weddings for 7 years. I knew one of my biggest challenges would be to separate the two. When I attend weddings it is hard for me to focus on what is actually going on and not what task I need to be doing. & because of that elopement has always been one of my dreams. Brody is the man that the Lord has set aside for me & I was the Lady He set aside for Brody, & to keep it 100% us 3 was very important to the both of us. For the record this decision was based on what was good for Brody and I & not what others thought. There are so many feelings and emotions that come with weddings, but if I stress to my brides that this is their day’s and their opinions and dreams are important then I needed to take my own advise. All my feelings aside for ceremonies it was so important we celebrate with so many important people in our life, which is why we choose to have a big reception.}

… now back to the wedding …

 As our family met on top of The Hill, my dad and I drove to join them. The details were simple; Brody walked down to “Come And Get Your Love” & My dad and I walked down to “Happiest Girl In The Whole USA.” The alter was a wooden triangle we made to represent that this marriage would be one with; God at the Top & Brody and I on either side. We stood on a beautiful fiesta rug, which is now in our living room. As Mr. Jason delivered the ceremony; Tears were shed, smiles were widen, and of course the ESPN Ring was rung. Yes, right during the middle of the ceremony the ESPN Notification went off, “That’s The Yankees!”, Brody Said.
“I know pronounce you husband and wife and best friends for life.” We kissed and walked away to “This Will Be” As our family and friends joined the reception we had a moment to be together and talk about our mornings. The couple photos were absolutely beautiful and the location made them so meaningful. Like I said my dream was the details.
We arrived to the receptions where the whole first half was dedicated to taking photos with our family members and everyone who joined us. Now that is my idea of a wedding … lots of photos! The reception location was a dream; a HUGE beautiful white tent with a ton of decorations from my home and Brody’s home, like we were joining together. Pallets stacked on top of each other as seating. Big wooden spools as tables. & beautiful tassels made by the bridesmaids and moms were hung from the ceiling. We mixed North Texas with East Texas. Red Tacos from the North & Tamales from the East. A whole table dedicated just for chips and salsa. & to top it off with confetti Cherry Laurel Cake with white frosting and sprinkles topped with hand made groom and bride pinatas. I wouldn’t call the theme of this wedding Fiesta, I would call it Dixie and Brody’s life becoming one or Dixie Chic Fiesta.
The main reason we decided to have a morning wedding was so we could spend our whole wedding day together. & like I said this day was not centered around what everyone else thought or to hurt them it was simply what was best for Brody and I. We do not regret one thing, well we do regret not having it longer, cause who knew in the middle of July it would feel absolutely beautiful. We remember every detail and going through these photos we were able to smile and feel the love on that very day. My hope is that as you look through a few of these photos you feel that love too. Thank you so much Kaiti Moyers Photography
